JOY BLESSINGS

8 YEARS OLD

My name is Joy Blessing from Tabitha 3 Christian Rescue Centre Embu Kenya Africa . This is my story….
“I was 8 years old when my parents left me desperate in cold with no one to care for me.… and never came back.” My hope was shuttered as I saw police come and take them
That day is etched into my soul. My mother hugged me tightly, said she’d be back in a little while… and then disappeared. I stood there in front of our house crying with no one to wipe my tears. It was indeed a dark day for me and my siblings. This made us drop out of school, left with nothing but a broken heart ,hopeless and hurting. Days turned into weeks… weeks into years… and I never saw them again again. One day God send angels at our home in that desperate moment. I and my family was visited by a team of volunteers from Tabitha 3 with good news. They promised to rescue us and give us better life as we wait for our parents to be released out of prison.
When I remember where my parent left me as they were taken to prison as I watched countless other children leave with smiling families while I stayed behind, clinging to the hope that someone would come for me, I really thank God for PCM. I remember very well at night, I’d stare at the dilapidated ceiling and imagine my parents were secret agents who’d return one day from prison. They never did. Today I have great hope that I am offered opportunity to reconcile with them again when God’s timing is due.

But in the Tabitha 3 kitchen, I found my freedom. I and my fellow children we are eating good meals and sleeping so well. We feel loved. We are taught life skills and spiritual aspects of life. We are growing in wisdom and stature.
At 8, I was officially registered in the project among other 35 kinds who had been left by their parent as they were taken in to prison. Was it our crime to be left Alone? Thank God we got good Samaritan who saw our need and has been taking care of us. The parental love I lacked is now provided in Tabitha 3 .Here I together with other rescued prison children we have reinvested new skills ,new creativity and much love for God. I have taught myself how to lead myself and others , and launched my own line of sweets. With tears of joy in my eyes, I now see hope in my neighborhood where I was abandoned… but this time holding the keys to the great future.
Growing up without a family was the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. Since the time Director Robert Njue and the team of volunteers from Tabitha 3 Christian Rescue Centre Embu Kenya Africa rescued us ,I learned you can sweeten your path… even when life serves you bitterness. The toughest part wasn’t being alone — it was learning to forgive. Now I have a place I call my permanent home and I have hope that I will one day reconcile with my parent when out of prison. Good news is that I and my siblings are now back to school because of the support we receive in Tabitha 3 Christian Rescue Centre.
