Missions to Prison

In the book of (luke 4:18-19) “….he has anointed me topreach the gospel to the poor, he has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruished, vs 19 To preach the acceptable year of the lord”.

CAMT-KENYA has been given the mandate to speak freedom to the captives. Christ main intention is for everyone to enjoy life and have an identify in him.

“We are not ashamed to proclaim the Good News (to the hardest of criminals) because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” (Rom. 1:16). We are privileged to show prisoners the unconditional love of God by pointing them to the  path of Christ grace of the cross. The perfect Lamb of God died for us while we were still sinners (Rom. 5:8). We want them to encounter the “kindness of God that leads us to repentance” (Rom. 2:4), and many lives are being transformed.

CAMT-KENYA most fulfilling desire is to show the prisoners love and support in order that they may be empowered to believe in their own God given value and therefore live changed and productive lives. We work with the prison officials and CAMT-KENYA Military missions programs already in place, as well as establish new ones.

We have a heart  to teach and empower prisoners to gain a sense of self-respect, respect for others, and the law. We encourage them with the hope of a new life in God by teaching them how to live victoriously through biblical teachings. We help them practically in many ways, by visiting them monthly, giving them bread, clothes, toothbrushes, Bibles, medical attention, soap, and basic supplies. We teach prisoners vocational and life skills so they will be able to support themselves and their families. We offer sewing programs for both the men and the women and while visiting we are attentive to the care of the inmates’ children. Upon request of the mother we take them to our centers for care until the parents are released.

When they are released, we continue to support them as they begin a new life. Many prisoners are testifying to changed lives through the help they are receiving and once they leave the prison they often come to our church or some even attend our mission programs.

During the camps we see on average 300 patients every day from Monday through Friday, with a total of  1500 quarterly totaling to 6000 being cared for in a year. Of this number, 50% are children under the age of 0-14 year and 30% are youth while 20% are adults. We assess mothers and babies every quarter of the year for the distribution of powdered milk formula and teach the benefits of breast milk rather than powdered milk.

 Vision and Goals:

  • To Meet the medical needs of the local community by offering a free health clinic every quarterly in a year to our community and international visitors.
  • Promote a teaching environment where natives and visiting volunteer missionaries can learn from each other
  • Empower the natives to develop their skills and increase their knowledge base.
  • Teach patients about subjects such as the importance of drinking enough water, eating a well balanced diet, basic hygiene, the facts about sexually transmitted diseases and the negative aspects of going to the witchdoctor
  • Assess the children and record any illnesses and treatment given
