WATER TANK FOR LIFE PROJECT:

More than 500 families from the rural Mbeere communities in Embu- Kenya Africa are in dire need of water for both domestic and agricultural use. During our recent Mission trip in the villages of Kamwimbi, Kamutu,Kavengero and Siakago  , we were touched  to see how local people walk for over 7kms in search of clean water. The children and Elderly are faced with challenges of attack by wild animals and some end up losing lives. The areas are hunger stricken and so dry. There is great need of storage water tanks . Our hope is that with your donation we can be able to buy Five 10,000 liters water tanks for at least  two schools, two churches and one for Siakago ongoing water project.

Also we will be able to buy 500 (2500 liters) water storage tanks for at least five hundred families.

Important to note is that families from these Arid areas are experiencing acute problem of inadequate and unclean drinking water over the years. Since the area is highly drought prone ,there is very little rainfall. The ground water table levels in these regions run very deep and with scanty rainfall bore wells used for drinking water. Thus they depend on storage of rainy water , purchase water or travel for more than 7kms for a bucket of water every day.

CAMT-KENYA started  this initiative that provides water tanks for these poor families so that they can store clean drinking water.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. A number of village level groups have been formed;
  2. Beneficiaries are selected based on the recommendation of community based groups;
  3. After getting the final list of potential beneficiaries CAMT-KENYA team then select beneficiaries based on economic conditions of families;
  4. The families or institutions Must agree to share the water tanks with the neighbors and contribute labor during installation and construction.

COST OF ONE TANK

  1. 10000 LITERS TANK = $800 USD
  2. 2500 LITER TANK = $ 150 USD
